Puerh is made from a broadleaf variety of tea and is grown in Yunnan province. It is initially processed like green tea but is then aged in a dark location for several years.
This results in a form of oxidation caused by the growth of yeast on the tea and is similar to the method used to make wine. With Puerh it creates a unique taste that grows better with age. It’s popularity has increased significantly in recent years not least due to its unique taste and the wide range health benefits that it is thought to bestow.
